Elara Mari specializes in hand drawing, hand lettering, screen-printing, lithography and mono printing. Her work explores the absurd and sublime of pop culture, combining her love of drawing and expressive mark-making with storytelling, portraiture, and a bold color palette.

Elara’s illustrations have appeared in publications from Taunton Press, Rodale, Mother Earth News, Storey Publishing, Black Dog & Leventhal, Chelsea Green Publishing, and Skipstone Press, among others.

 In September of 2015, Elara’s work was featured in the curated SCAD Portfolios (www.portfolios.scad.edu). In 2014 she received two Applied Art Student awards, and was presented with Honorable Mention at SCAD’s annual juried print show, Alexander Ink.

Elara received a Master of Arts in Illustration in 2015 from SCAD, where she concentrated on traditional printmaking techniques and editorial illustration. She graduated with a BFA from Parsons School of Design in 2003.
